Etang Marolles 9th - 23rd May 2026 Catch Reports
9th - 16th May
On our Main lake, the week 9th - 16th May saw the return of Rick, Richard and Will, from Plymouth, who arrived for their second visit to Marolles.
It was great to see the guys again and after a quick catch up and lake brief they were off, around the lake, deciding where to set up.
The lake produced 22 fish overall for the guys, which included personal bests for all three, with father and son Rick & Richard breaking their PB’s twice over. Their overall haul consisted of 2 x 50’s (one new 50 for the water), a whopping 12 x 40’s to 49lb, 6 x 30’s to 37lb and 2 x 20’s, both weighing in at 29lb each.
The guys left us a lovely message in our log book which read….
‘WOW once again!!! Fantastic lake, fantastic hosts, best lake in France by far!!! Second time here, third time booked!!!’
Thanks guys, it’s always a pleasure to see you and we look forward to your return next season.
BelleVue had a much slower week as we welcomed the return of regulars to the lake, Bob & Faye, and the changeable, crazy May weather impacted the fishing. The lake did produce two lovely Mirrors for Bob, in the form of one at 35.4lb and another at 37lb. We will be seeing Bob & Fay again in 2027 and as always, it will be a pleasure to see them.
Moving onto 16th - 23rd May.
This week, on the main lake, it was all about family as we got to celebrate with Darren’s Father Roger, for his 75th birthday, along with two brothers Chris & Matt. The crazy May weather experienced last week continued, seeing us all, at the beginning of the week, bundle up in our fleecy lined padded jackets to battle the cold temps and stiff north easterly winds. By Thursday it was back to shorts & flip flops with 30 degrees on the thermometer and rising into the weekend.
Despite the changeable weather, Roger managed to break his PB, with his first fish on the bank being a beautiful 42lb common. Two further Mirrors weighing in at 34lb & 36lb, along with another stunning common at 38.8lb, on his actual birthday, made for a great week. Congratulations to Dad on reaching, as he says, ‘three quarters of a century!!’
Over on BelleVue we welcomed new customers Jim & Gill. Despite the incredibly harsh conditions, Jim managed to land the ‘fish of the week’ banking a stunning 46.8lb Mirror.
Our logbook entry from Jim & Gill read…..’ Darren & G were so wonderful and kind. We had such massive weather extremes which really messed up the fishing. We started the week with 2/3 degrees overnight and then last Thursday the temperatures zoomed up to 30 degrees!!!! Regardless, we had a wonderful stay’.
